The Capitol Hill Neighborhoods and the Golden Triangle

Adjacent to Downtown, on south side. Large amount of residential tower construction, along with many different types of housing and apartments. "The Golden Triangle" refers to an area bordered by Speer, Colfax, and Lincoln streets. The Capitol Hill is named as it is because of the proximity of the State Capitol Building, shown in the header of the "History" Page.

Capitol Hill / Golden Triangle page 1

This is the Prado, which is a recent residential tower to join the ranks of the many residential towers already in this area.

Here is an example of a typical apartment building in the Capitol Hill neigborhood. These apartments have been constructed in the immediate vicinity of single family detached houses, so there is an interesting mix of building types.

Condominium and loft buildings in the area built in the last decade look similar to these.

A street scene in the area. Older dilapidated houses and surface parking lots have been gentrified into loft buildings.

A different angle on the same street.

Many houses in the area are constructed with Victorian-era architecture. Sadly, many of the original houses built around the turn of the 20th century were destroyed in the 1950's and 1960's to make way for parking lots. Thankfully, developers have realized their tragic mistakes and most of the parking lots are being redeveloped.

This photo is a good example of the eclectic mix of building types in the area, including houses, apartments, lofts, condos, and offices.
